Final Post...for 2014!
Final Post...for 2014!
We have had a lot of fun skating this week. Thanks to all parents who have come out to help us with skates - particularly those who came more than once! While this consumed a lot of time, we also managed to fit in core curriculum.
In Social, we began a study of Alberta's fossil heritage. We are beginning to develop a sense of why fossils are important to us aside from being cool. We also have started talking about fossil fuels and their advantages, challenges and downfalls.
In Science, we are continuing with waste in our world. We are now finishing waste water, toxicity, and other producers of waste.
In Language Arts we wrote a "Santa/Elf/Reindeer stuck" story. Some of these are very funny! We also completed our read aloud novel "The Giggler Treatment" by Roddy Doyle. There were times when the entire class was roaring with laughter at the shenanigans in the story.
Tuesday afternoon we constructed and decorated graham wafer houses. The student ere given the supplies and were allowed to create their own dwellings. Many students created single family dwellings, but a few created apartment buildings and hotels. There was a lot of candy consumed - I think, perhaps, more than was used as adornments. Thanks to the families who donated extra decorations for all of us to share. We appreciate your generosity.
I would, also, like to thank families who donated treats for our class party yesterday. I appreciate the effort it takes to supply these items for us.
I hope you and your family enjoy the holiday season and have safe travels whether you are travelling around the block or around the continent.
Merry Christmas!
Reminders:
* Hot lunch orders are due today.
* School resumes on January 5.
