For a short week, we sure have a lot going on!
Our fruit and cookie dough fundraiser is continuing - please be sure to return all order forms and money to the school by October 24. The supplier can then begin to assemble our order for speedy delivery. Orders will come to the school after the November fall break.
The NED Show will be arriving at our school on Friday October 17 at 1:30 pm. Please feel free to join us as we learn to Never give up, Encourage others, and Do our best. Merchandise from this presentation will be on sale for the week following the presentation.
There is a family movie night on October 24. An email is being sent home with the details of this exciting event. Money raised from the movie night will be used to help with the purchasing of smart boards and related technology.
We will be having a math test tomorrow on Patterns and Relations. This is the test which was postponed from last week. There is a review package being sent home with your child tonight - we have worked on it at school - but it is a good review for tomorrow's test. We will begin our new unit on Tuesday - Number Sense.
We are continuing to learn about the different regions in Alberta as we work through the different sections of our passports. This project will last until the end of October. We will be having a quiz on the regions early in November. There is NO CE this week. Last week's CE was postponed until this Wednesday due to scheduling conflicts so we will not be doing 2 articles this week. Please continue to encourage your child to be aware of what is happening in the news.
Our Light and Shadow unit is beginning to wrap up. We have only one new topic to tackle before the unit is completed. We will complete it tomorrow, and then begin to review for our Unit Final on October 24. I have encouraged the students to begin taking home duotangs to review nightly this week, and I ask for your assistance with their nightly review at home.
Language Arts has been exciting with the students beginning to tell the difference between the parts of speech - nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Adjectives and adverbs area the words that add colour to our writing.
RBES has moved away from student-led conferences towards parent meetings to give parents and students a chance to speak about each individual learner with the teacher. Parent meetings will be held during the week of November 3 through 5. Please watch for more details about this event - we will also be writing about them in the students' agendas.
There is a new class schedule in the front of each agenda. This will allow the students to plan for the day knowing what is scheduled. If changes occur, it will be noted in the agenda at least the day before to allow for planning changes. Hopefully there will not be too many changes!
There will be more information coming out, but just to give you a heads up, our Christmas Concert will be on December 1. Mark it into your calendars!
Just think - only a little more than 2 months until Christmas Holidays!
