Quick Post

Hello, all!

By now you will have realized that I am among the world's worst bloggers.  I apologize for this; however, I am about to try something new that will hopefully help to keep this blog a bit more current.

Starting later today, the student who has received the "Student of the Week" (SofW) award for this week (and the weeks to come) will also have as her/her privilege, the 'write' to post the weekly blog.  The SofW will be writing a daily update, but we will only publish it on Friday - after I have had a chance to help with the editing.

As always, we will continue to write in our daily agendas - although some may think it is archaic, I believe it is still a good practice to have.  If you have been checking this blog for current information about the curricular material we have been covering, I hope you have also been checking your student's agenda as this is where we have been staying current.  Just a friendly reminder to also be signing your student's agenda after you have read the daily note.

On an entirely different train of thought...we will be doing an art project on Thursday which is going to require some materials from home.  If you would, please send with your student for Thursday afternoon some materials with which to decorate a stocking for Christmas.  I will be providing each student with a stocking (sock) and they will be decorating them using materials they have brought from home.  Please do not go out and spend a fortune on crafting materials - just use 'stuff' you have at home.  The students will need things like: ribbon, buttons, wool, material scraps, foam shapes, glitter glue, fabric paint...or whatever else they may want to use.

The idea is to have these stockings decorated for the beginning of December and then we will be hanging them up in the classroom. Each day that we are in school in December, the students will be receiving a small gift in the stocking - like an advent calendar - counting down to the last day before Christmas break.  On this Friday - December 18 - the students will be given their stocking to take home.

Also, for a few weeks, our class will be working with Mrs. Fleming on a writing project.  While 4C students are working with her, 4A will be completing a science unit with me.  It will be fun, as all of us will get to have a bit of a 'new' learning experience.  If you would like to talk to me about this, please contact me directly at the school - either by phone or email.

We are 18 school days from the break - I hope it does not go by too quickly!

Happy Monday!
