Well, it goes to show that the best resolutions also fall to the wayside...I hope you have been following our academic progress as noted in your child's agenda. It has been our best form of communication, and will definitely continue to be updated daily!
We have been working diligently on our Literature Circles in LA along with our regular items. Our Lit. Circle has been using one book as a whole class study, to exemplify how the different tasks are to be completed. Our book is called 'Because of Mr. Terupt" by Rob Buyea. It is an excellent story and we are thoroughly enjoying the story. We are also enjoying the tasks associated with the project, but not as much as the story! Please ask your student about his or her favourite activity so far. We will be breaking into small groups to do a 'real' lit. circle after we finish the whole class novel.
In math, we have bee working with money - recognizing the coins, counting money, making change, finding the smallest number of coins that can be used to make change and figuring out the costs of multiple items added together. We will be continuing this topic for the rest of next week as well.
In Social, we are working on a photo story of how Alberta was settled - who were the different groups or people who came here, how did they help, what were some of the problems they encountered....
We are continuing this project for the next 2 weeks.
In Science, we are continuing our Building Devices unit. You are invited to come and see our final projects on the 16th of March during our Student-led conferences.
