Welcome to the new year! We have been hard at work, already - no more breaks for us.  Below are two pictures of what we have been working on.  The first picture is an introduction to SWI based on the works of Peter Bowers.
The second picture is our brain storming that we did prior to writing our Thursday's KidBlog post.  Thursdays are the 3 things I have learned this week, 2 things I liked about this week, and 1 question I have going forward post.  The student are writing a weekly review, but in a prescribed manner. Ask you child to show you his/her KidBlog post for all of the details about this week.

Please remember that report cards will be coming out at the end of the month.  The Powerschool portal will be closed to parents while we complete the report card comments. 
If you have not signed the permission forms for skating, please do so soon as we go for the 21-24 of January. We will be skating for another week in February.  Please check to see if this form covers both weeks.
The grade 4s will be skiing or snowboarding at Rabbit Hill on January 28.  This form is not yet live, but will be soon.  Please note that this is a regular school day, and your child is expected to come to school that day.  If you are wary of a first time skier or snowboarder, please be warned that Rabbit Hill does not allow anyone out on the hill without a lesson.  If your child has not ever been to a hill, they will be taught how on this day!

Musical Ride

We had an awesome presentation from the Lord Strathcona's Mounted Regiment.  I actually took a few pictures, and will be sharing them with you (In random order -ask your student to order them).  The first part of the presentation was a classroom section where a member of the Regiment came into our classroom and spoke to the students.  He then answered questions the students asked.  After that, we went outside to see the trailer the horses travel in while on the road as well as ask a few more questions of the Members at that location.  We ended by watching the Musical Ride.  What an experience!  Please ask your child about his or her thoughts as you are winding down tonight.

Welcome to October! This is a busy month for grade four.  We begin with a parent meeting Tuesday, October 7, 2014 to discuss the upcoming trip to DRUMHELLER.  Your voice is important, so please be sure to come and have input as to how this trip will happen.  Discussion topics will include: chaperones, financing, curricular ties, dates and more. School photos are being taken on October 7, as well.  I f your child is wearing 'fancy' clothes for photos, please send along a set of regular clothes to be worn after photos are taken. Hot lunch and milk programs begin this month - if you did not purchase either yet, you will have to wait until November to begin. Deadline for November orders is October 24. We will soon have our set timetable for the year - I will be sending home a copy of this as well as placing one inside of the agenda - glued inside. For math this week, we are trying to wrap up the patterns unit with a unit exam on Friday.  Your child will be bringing home a

January 20, 2015 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 1.) Skiing February 2, 2015   The grade 4 classes will be skiing at Rabbit Hill on February 2, 2015.  Below are the details as provided by Mr. Henderson. Departure time:  8:30  - Return to school  4:00  - need to arrange for pick up as buses will not be available Pricing options: a) Full package - rental equipment (skis or snowboard); lift pass, lesson, and transportation - $43.00                                b) Lift, lesson, and Transportation (have own equipment) - $26.00                                c) Rentals, lesson, and transportation (have own hill pass) - $22.00                                d) Lesson and transportation (have own equipment and lift pass) - $5.00 Students will need to bring a lunch.  There is a concession available should students wish to bring money to buy lunch or snacks. Deadline for permission forms and payment is  January 30 , 3:30 - NO late payments or payments on the day of the trip
