Christmas Cards and Halloween - in the same post!

A few important things: 

CHRISTMAS CARDS
We did not display our Christmas cards for the fundraiser during Parent-Teacher meetings, and so I have posted pictures of the students holding his or her creation.  Please take a look at the wonderful cards, and then complete the order form which was sent home with your child today.  If your child was part of the SWAT team touring the School Board Trustees today, the last photo contains his or her card. Order forms are due back by November 4.  Thanks!
















HALLOWEEN
Our Halloween festivities will be on MONDAY, OCTOBER 31.  Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school as our costume parade, in the gym, will be first thing in the morning.  Please come and watch this with us!  We will continue back to our classroom to do some Halloween activities and some Halloween themed learning.  After our regular lunch, (which each student is responsible for bringing his/her own) we will be sharing the treats which are being brought by our friends.  We may continue with Halloween themed activities; however, we will be following our music schedule.  Students will be dismissed for the day at the regular time.

There is NO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 1st.  Enjoy the post-Halloween day with your student!

Musical Ride

We had an awesome presentation from the Lord Strathcona's Mounted Regiment.  I actually took a few pictures, and will be sharing them with you (In random order -ask your student to order them).  The first part of the presentation was a classroom section where a member of the Regiment came into our classroom and spoke to the students.  He then answered questions the students asked.  After that, we went outside to see the trailer the horses travel in while on the road as well as ask a few more questions of the Members at that location.  We ended by watching the Musical Ride.  What an experience!  Please ask your child about his or her thoughts as you are winding down tonight.

Welcome to October! This is a busy month for grade four.  We begin with a parent meeting Tuesday, October 7, 2014 to discuss the upcoming trip to DRUMHELLER.  Your voice is important, so please be sure to come and have input as to how this trip will happen.  Discussion topics will include: chaperones, financing, curricular ties, dates and more. School photos are being taken on October 7, as well.  I f your child is wearing 'fancy' clothes for photos, please send along a set of regular clothes to be worn after photos are taken. Hot lunch and milk programs begin this month - if you did not purchase either yet, you will have to wait until November to begin. Deadline for November orders is October 24. We will soon have our set timetable for the year - I will be sending home a copy of this as well as placing one inside of the agenda - glued inside. January 20, 2015 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 1.) Skiing February 2, 2015   The grade 4 classes will be skiing at Rabbit Hill on February 2, 2015.  Below are the details as provided by Mr. Henderson. Departure time:  8:30  - Return to school  4:00  - need to arrange for pick up as buses will not be available Pricing options: a) Full package - rental equipment (skis or snowboard); lift pass, lesson, and transportation - $43.00                                b) Lift, lesson, and Transportation (have own equipment) - $26.00                                c) Rentals, lesson, and transportation (have own hill pass) - $22.00                                d) Lesson and transportation (have own equipment and lift pass) - $5.00 Students will need to bring a lunch.  There is a concession available should students wish to bring money to buy lunch or snacks. Deadline for permission forms and payment is  January 30 , 3:30 - NO late payments or payments on the day of the trip
